Social media trends - is less more?

Are we digitally lazy? I know I am. That is, I am becoming more and more.

The more social networks there are, the more I am reluctant to become part of any.
Do we really need all the networks? Can we find all those different ways to express ourselves?

Social Media Trends
I have seen the social media laziness. So the pictures are becoming a 1000 words - take Instagram for example. And we find ways to express in 160 characters.
Not to forget Facebook with a combination of every possible media at your fingertips, for expressing all your creative juices that are currently flowing.

But do we need more?

In the past, the trend was to have complex websites - like Myspace and Hi5 that offered not only different media to express yourself, but also to custom design your own profile. And it took minutes and minutes of loading each personalized profile.

Then the new trend appeared - Facebook, with simpler interface, different choices and APPS.
But then all your family members started creating profiles so it wasn't much fun anymore.

Newer trends came with less words and more images - Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest. I think people, especially celebrities became crazy over night.

Now, Twitter goes more complex - towards Facebook with options for more than 160 characters to express yourself, preview of images, vines, you name it.

Not to mention Google+ and its network.

So, are we in for less words or more words? Or is it just a current trend?
As in fashion -  I guess the 80-ties are back!
